Soulful Sounds with Bruce Pierson

Taste of the Soulful Sound

My story back in 1967 at the way community center on Pluymouth Avenue in North Minneapolis, Spike Moss was the director, the man in charged at the way. This is where one of the groups I put together called the Casanovas where we practiced along with the others groups like Prince, the Mind of Matter, Quiet Storm, the Time, and many many more. So pushing ahead a couple of years I started the group Power, back in 1980 national recording deal with Malaco Records out of Jackson Mississippii, 5 year deal and we put Grooving a remix of the Little Rascals Grooving, which was on of our best singles. It make the top 100 on New York's Billboard. We put several albums out back in 1982. When the Mall of America was first opened we was one of the singing groups that sang there. Just doing a little history of the groups I put together. My life history thank you for reading.

Black Music Historian

Want to know about the history of North Minneapolis? Get the truth from a man who experienced it first hand. Bring him to your next Cultural event and he brings his knowledge and will sing a few songs.
My favorite song was Silhouettes on your Shades by the Rays and I also loved to sing Traveling Man by Ricky Nelson. I started singing in the choir Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church Choir, I sang lead and also directed the Choir. Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church Choir was the best choir in Minneapolis for 5 years. We would go around to all the Churches in Minneapolis and compete, we had the best Choir, we have a gigantic musical family. Just a little history on my family and when I started singing thanks for listening.
